As you all know, Google is a staple site for people of all ages. But in 2021, Google lost its reign to social media app TikTok. According to data from web security company Cloudflare, the social media app even beat well-known domains that outranked in 2020, like Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, and Netflix.
The company also found that TikTok moved up from seventh place in 2020 to first as the pandemic hit worldwide, boosting the app to the top spot in 2021. TikTok outranked Google.com, including Maps, Translate, Photos, Flights, Books, and News.
According to data company Sensor Tower, TikTok was downloaded more than 3 billion times in July 2021! Apparently, food and recipe TikTok videos have become a key part of the app’s success, baked feta pasta was ranked the most searched dish of 2021 by Google.
Overall, Google follows closely behind TikTok in second place, while Facebook is in third. Meanwhile, Microsoft and Apple were in fourth and fifth place respectively. Filling up the sixth to tenth place would be Amazon, Netflix, YouTube, Twitter, and WhatsApp.
